Unscheduled repairs at Tengiz field to last until December-end

Unscheduled repairs at Kazakhstan's Tengiz oil field, which began in late October, will continue until the end of this year, Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliev said, Report informs.

"The unscheduled repair work at the Second Generation Plant at one of Kazakhstan's largest fields - Tengiz, which began on October 26 this year due to an internal steam leak into the process flow, will continue until the end of the year," according to the minister's report.

The repairs at Tengiz became one of the reasons affecting the reduction in Kazakhstan's oil production forecast for 2024 from 88.4 million tons to 87.8 million tons. The Tengiz oil and gas field is located in the Atyrau region in the west of the country, with oil reserves of 3.1 billion tons.

The participants of the field's operator company Tengizchevroil LLP are: Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc (25%), Kazakhstan through KazMunayGas (20%), and LUKOIL (5%).
